Works great

| I have typically used Edge gel for shaving... but with most shaving creams, I've found that when a razor starts to get some use, I start getting little nicks here and there where the razor is cutting into the skin. With Neutrogena's shave cream razors last so much longer than with any other shaving cream I've tried and without the nicks. Target used to carry this in their stores, but it looks like they've dropped it from their inventory over the past couple of months because I can't find it anywhere. It would be nice if there was an unscented version. But otherwise, it works great for me. |
Seriously, this really works for people with chronic red bumps on their neck

All I can say, is that this product, generously applied 2 minutes before I start shaving, keeps me from getting red bumps on my neck. I've used shaving gel, plain soap, shaving cream, versions for sensitive skin for all of the above, and all result in red bumps on my skin. I can attest that nothing works like this.
Understand this is pretty much a white lotion. It doesn't foam or lather up.
But it seems to, almost magically, prevent razor burn on my neck. |
Have Used it For Many Years

| I have used this product for at least 7 years... maybe longer along with the Neutrogena Face Scrub. They compliment each other well. The Face Scrub somehow prepares my face for a shave. It is an excellent pre-shaving product. The Shaving Cream is a great product too, but it used to be better. There was a time when I didn't need much to create a very slippery shaving surface on my face, but in the last year or two, Neutrogena has made it more creamy or something, where there was a time the cream had a more subtle gel feel to it after applying it on my face. I would love it if they brought back the old formula, but they probably won't because you have to use more the new product to get a similar shave as the old formula. But overalll, what I like best about these produces is that they leave my face better moisturized, where typical foams tend to dry out my face. Also, I no longer experience razor burn on my neck after using these products. Which I also credit to the fact I use only cold water to shave (during all seasons and situations), and the fact that when I shave my neck I shave in a up direction, the same direction of the hair growth on my neck (the rest of my face I shave the normal down direction, which happens to also be the direction of my facial hair growth). Try all these combinations and maybe you will reduce or get rid of razor burn too. Best of luck. |
Pretty good, annoying smell

This stuff isn't bad. A decent price, used it ever since I started shavin, never got razor bumps, never broke out nothing.
Only drawbacks are
1) it isn't like a foam so you can't totally see where you've shaved. Can be difficult when you're at a campground or somewhere where you can't spend 5 minutes in front of the mirror.
2) I really don't like the smell that much, but deodorant and body spray cover up for that.
Overall..pretty good. |
Disappointing

| I have been trying to like Neutrogena Men Skin Clearing Shave Cream. Really, I've tried as hard as I could. It's just that it doesn't really back up its claims. It hasn't helped to clear my skin at all. Furthermore, the fact that it's a non-foaming cream makes it excruciatingly difficult to spread completely across my face without having to use a ton. The directions say that using about a quarter-size amount is "all you need." Yet it provides little coverage -- and does not spread evenly enough to provide a comfortable shave. It also claims to provide exceptional razor glide but it does not. Razor glide if awful with this product. |
