Greatest Shave Since Grandpa

I remember as a child my grandfather (who raised me) would give me a double edge razor. I would lather up my face and with an older discarded razor without the blade would shave my face as we both stood in front of the mirror. He passed away and I kept the old razor. When I finally grew a beard I pulled out the old razor with a blade and began to nick myself to the point I thought I would need a transfusion. He died before he could tell me you dont dig the razor into your face. So my grandmother scrapped up the money and bought me an electric razor.
So here I am 40 years later and run onto an article about the glory of using a double edge razor. I did my research and landed on the Merkur Futur. Not only does it give me the best shave but when I look in the mirror...I see grandpa standing there with a smile.Merkur Futur 4 Piece Shaving Set- Satin Finish-#750- Made in Germany |

this shave set is definitely worth the money. I use the razor with feather blades, and have found it can tackle even the largest beard just by dialing it up to a more aggressive setting.
the cost can more easily be justified if you take into account the sets quality, and the fact that the razors are a fraction of the cost of a mach 3. |
Best shave yet

| I just received this today and in anticipation that I would need practice with a new razor I shaved tonight rather than in the morning like I usually do. I took my time and I was careful shaving with this razor. I have to say it was the best shave I've had. I've tried electric razors and many, many different kinds of disposable razors and this was the best shaving experience I've had. If you are like me and have not been satisfied with other shaving utensils I'd have to recommend giving this a try. It's a larger upfront cost but well worth it in my opinion. |

| After the first month: Might seem over priced but this is truly a quality set that you'll have around for a long time. From other reviews, I combined the Col. Clink's soap with Taylor of Old Bond Street Sandalwood for a magnificent shave. Leave this combo on your face for a few minuites for a soothing finish. Also from another review, I really like the Derby Extra blades for a knick-free experience. Speaking of knicks, after going up and down the settings on the razor, I settled in at 2 1/2. You do have to learn (or re-learn depending on your age) to angle the head. Sound is important and will tell you if things are going right. This setup gives a much closer shave than my Mach 3 ever did. |

This is my first safety razor, shaving brush, shaving soap, and shaving bowl. The set has a very classy look to begin with. As another reviever say, the brush look a little stray only afte one use, I don't know if brushes genereally behave this way. It does not, however, affect the function of the brush.
The brush and razor is very sturdy and heavy and gives an impression of good quality. The bowl however is light and makes you wonder if the price of the set is really justified. A part of me think the price was a little high, but I guess you pay for the whole set-look.
The razor works great when shaving in all directions.
The bowl is a little small for my taste, since I like to brush up lather with shaving cream. For this, the bowl is a little small, wich is why I'm going to get myself a shaving mug. |
Pretty nice, but too expensive

| The razor is great, definitely has a feel of quality. The stand and bowl are simple yet functional and I have no qualms about them either. The brush is merely adequate, however. To be fair, it's my first shave brush, but the bristles stray and it looked ragged after simply getting wet the first time and now looks ragged all the time. It works, though, and I really don't know if all shave brushes immediately look crappy after becoming moist. I'd say that this set is worth half the price, but isn't nice enough to warrant its current price. |
